Acquisitive? Moi?
My new toy is an iPod shuffle. Lime green. I should have really bought it in Chelsea Blue, but the green one is fab and its absolutely dinky. I love it.
My previous Shuffle was getting to the end of its life - shutting down arbitrarily, losing songs etc. Anyway, I don't feel too bad about buying a new one. Ahem.I've also seen these mugs in the Guardian magazine this morning. This photo doesn't really do them justice, but they've all got a different pantone colour on them and they're very striking:-

I must have them. Time to visit the shop on Gillygate that stocks them :-)

Peculiarly, Solveig was just showing me that Guardian article at the same time I was reading your blog whilst supping Earl Grey from one of these very items (the mug, not the iPod, that would be insane...)
We bought 6 of them from 'Ed' in Northcross Road as a housewarming gift about a month ago - good size too; well over half a pint I reckon.
Let us know which colours you go for :)
what colours did you get? I like the bright ones that they had in the magazine, but the more muted colours are nice too.
I had a shufty on the website and also rather like their blue plaque mugs.
After some in-shop debate (ahem...) we settled on:
5757, 549, 186, 388, 2583 & 239
Or, if you prefer:
Moss Green, Sky Blue, Pillarbox Red, Lime Green, Pale Purple* & Candy Pink
*I was going to call it Mid Mauve but that would have launched the debate about pronunciation again - stop hitting me dear!
There's a shop in the Oxo Tower development that sells these: they also sell blue plaque mugs, which I was equally taken with. Plain white mugs, each with a different blue plaque such as you find on houses where dead celebrities used to live.
Unfortunately for me, I made a decree that all my mugs shall be Cornish Blue, and there shall only ever be six of them. I passed this decree to keep things straightforward and stop myself being sidetracked by snazzy crockery. I'm such a spoilsport.
Oh, you already saw the blue plaque mugs. Read the other comments in full FIRST, Antonia.
Aha! There are blue plaque teatowels too. There is no decree on teatowels in this house. I shall order a Jimi Hendrix.
Isn't it interesting when I talk to myself in your comments? Yes.
You should join facebook and we could set up a blue plaques discussion group ;-)
and I was going to say that if we limited ourselves to only 6 mugs in the house, in no time at all they'd all be in Doug's study with various cultures growing in them.
As of recently I am on Facebook, under the spoonerised alias of Mary Hinge.
Oh, how the mighty are fallen. Soon it shall only be me, Luddite-like, outside the Facebook world of walls and vampires (apparently).
And then, fianlly, I shall get some peace :)
