The Last Wedding
At the weekend, Doug and I drove to Brighton for what, I think, will be the last wedding we go to for some time. Unless one of his brothers gets married (looking unlikely) or any of our friends get divorced and start on round two. So we decided to make the most of it.
Having deposited the children at the in-laws, we were free to make merry (a little too merry, perhaps), to enjoy seeing all our friends from London and meet their babies, and then to lie in bed with our hangovers until 1pm the following day (a luxury presumably not enjoyed by our London friends with babies!) I eventually managed to get up, eat a big roast sunday lunch in the pub, walk down the prom into Brighton, mess about on the pier and in the amusement arcade and then go out for dinner in the evening.
We had a great time; I haven't let my hair down like that since before Jacob was born and it was worth feeling wrecked on Sunday morning just to be able to do that again. At the last four weddings I've been to, I haven't been able to drink - well, I certainly made up for it on Saturday ;-) At least with spirits, the hangover wasn't too bad (witness quite a busy Sunday), although if I'd stayed in the hotel bar with everyone else until 3am, it might have been a different story.
So, here's to having a weekend away from the kids, here's to Becs and Jason (looking lovely and happy in the picture above), and here's to the last wedding for some time :-)
