Tesco Online

I can't actually encapsulate this in 160 letters because it's one of those things I find really irritating, and because it's grocery shopping it means it's really irritating on a weekly basis.

And the cause of my irritation? The fact that the Tesco online shop does not work properly in Firefox.

Every week, I go to the site to book my delivery slot and 9 times out of 10 when I click on an option, instead of serving up the appropriate webpage I get a dialogue box asking whether I want to save the page. Something with an .aspx suffix, which (as I understand it from Doug) should actually be spelled .shit.

And so I have to trog off to Internet Explorer and use that. Which I don't want to do, as I understand that it is a VERY BAD THING and WILL TURN YOUR LAPTOP INTO THE EVIL COMPUTER FROM WARGAMES. Or something.

Anyway, I find it really irritating that the UK's biggest supermarket can't make its online store work in the UK's second biggest browser, one that is used by almost 20% of the population.

Every little helps? I think not.

You could change supermarket. That would show them.

I suppose I could. However, iirc Asda have a much more limited choice of produce and I'm loathe to use Sainsburys as they were always so flakey when we used to use them. We don't do Waitrose in N Yorks (unless you're in Harrogate).

I could also drive and shop in person, but I end up spending £40 more on average when I go in person.

So I'll probably carry on moaning about Tesco :)

I use Sainsburys which works fine. I have turned off all substitution because clearly the guys in charge of substitution do not know anything about anything.

I have shopped a couple of times at Tesco's using Firefox, without any problems. Perhaps you need a new version, or there is something about your settings that is wrong?

latest version of Firefox, nowt wrong with my settings.

the asp issue with firefox is a known issue. just depends whether whoever is coding up a site is willing to invest the time to get it to render properly in firefox.

Not so sure it is the website at fault, seems to be a bug in Firefox 3 see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462861
